all sorts, from the african tribes of old, to the orientally stuff of not as old, from the old school beatboxers, to the new school.
I am actually influenced by absolutely everything i see/hear/feel/stuff, taking it all in like a sponge, adding my own twist to it, and unleashing it via the mouth. POW!!!
Azeem is one of the most promising new beatboxers to break out of the London scene in years. His smooth skills, natural rhythm and intelligent flow combine with his sensational stage presence to deliver performances that are not soon forgotten.
Azeem has received numerous accolades for his musicality and originality. He has already attracted the attention of the biggest players in the beatbox scene, having recently jammed alongside some of the world's best at the International Beatbox Convention. Recently, top US beatbox promoter Terry "Kid Lucky" Lewis described Azeem as "a very talented beatboxer". High praise indeed!
Quite recently, Azeem opened an event at the Emirates Stadium in London, with a showcase and beatboxing workshop, hilariously awesome stuff, and during the summer he had a rave of a performance at the London Mela at Gunnersbury Park, described as 'the Asian Glastonbury', minds were blown and crowds were rocked. He also recently smashed it at the Global Peace and Unity Event 08 with Mohammed Yahya of the Blind Alphabetz, which was broadcast live on TV throughout the world.
He also greatly enjoys teaching beatbox to others; enriching the scene and spreading love for beatbox as an art form through workshops and demonstrations.. He has a healthy Youtube following, and is set to take the scene by storm.
Azeem was mentioned in the Evening Standard "Azeem Ahmed, strides up to me and presents a red business card on which he is described as "Beatbox Extraordinaire, available by appointment", and makes a noise like a parping trumpet", and has been interviewed by BBC News for a gig with Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra he had in May.
Azeem loves to collaborate with other musicians/artists, and so has worked with Orchestral Quartets, Indie Bands, Irish Gaelic Choirs, Acapella Groups, Rappers, Singers, and is always on the lookout for further possible collaborations, his passion and creativity will add so much more quality to any style of music.
Azeem has worked with: David J, Jestar, Marv-ill, MC Zani, Sahara (orchestral quartet), Sharon Levy, Nathan “Flutebox” Lee, Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra, Forestbrook, In The Smoke, Mohammed Yahya of the Blind Alphabetz, members of Bassment Jaxx, as well as Stig of the Dump among others.
He has also supported: Chipmunk, Kasha, Nathan, Skinnyman, Blak Twang, Shayal, Zain Bikha, Dawud Wharnsby, El Crisis, and Riz MC.
The clothing brand, Fenchurch, endorsed Azeem in 2008, and they've got some seriously sick gear!
